U.S. Chargé joins Acting President for Small Business ‘Care Clinic’
U.S. Chargé d’affaires in Nigeria David J. Young recently joined Acting President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo and more than 5,000 entrepreneurs as the Office of the Vice President hosted a “Care Clinic” to provide on-the-spot solutions to bottlenecks holding up small and medium-sized businesses. At the clinic, entrepreneurs directly engaged with federal ministries, departments, and agencies to better navigate government regulations on business development.
After the Acting President visited a similar USAID clinic in late 2016, he asked his office to replicate them on a recurring basis. Originally a complement the Presidential Enabling Business Council to help ease of doing business in Nigeria, the effort also brings businesses from the informal into the formal sector, which will increases government support for small business and raises substantial tax revenue.
