Dr. Orji Kalu, First Igbo, turbaned “Danbaiwan-Hausa” pays first courtesy visit to President Buhari in Daura.
After his investiture, the former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, becomes the first Igbo (non-Hausa in Nigeria) to receive one of the highest traditional titles in Northern Nigeria, Dan-Baiwan Hausa (which means ‘gifted son of Hausa Kingdom’) as a ‘Representation of the Hausa’ in the entire Igbo land. This goes a long way to show that there is indeed a spirit of unity and togetherness in the core nature of true and patriotic Nigerians.
Speaking at the investiture in his palace, the Emir of Daura His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Umar Farouq (CON) explained that, the title was conferred on Dr. Kalu in recognition of his selfless contribution in promoting unity across the country, developing Abia state as well as his love for President Muhammadu Buhari, who hails from Daura, describing Dr. Kalu as a peace promoter and “Representative of the Hausa” in the entire Ibo land.
The Erim expressed appreciation for the contributions of Dr. Kalu to the business sector in Nigeria and his efforts in peace-building for the good of the community and urged him to continue his campaigns for President Muhammadu Buhari who is a son of the soil. The event which was held in Duara, Katsina State, had in attendance, the Governor of Plateau State Dr. Simon Lalong, the Minister of Communication, Bayo Shittu, and several other dignitaries from across the country who attended the ceremony.
Dr. Kalu said he does not take this honour of representing the Hausa and bridging the gap between the south and the north lightly. He said that this means everywhere he goes he will continue to do the duties of a bridge-builder. He mentioned amazingly that he was brought up. He pledges to maintain the integrity and honour of the title. He said that he dedicates the title to Nigerians living across the country and prays that the nation enjoys unity and its vast culture. He said the title confirms his strong belief that Nigeria is one. He urged Nigerians to shun the ethnicity brought in my politicians into the political sphere of the country and embrace oneness.
After the investiture, Dr Kalu came out on horseback with his supporters filling the air with songs and shouts. He moved to pay homage to the President who was in town for the Sala holiday to mark his first official outing. Dr. Kala was received alongside the governor of Ogun state, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun and the governor of Plateau state, Dr. Simon Lalong.
