American stand-up comedian, Dave Chappelle was rushed and attacked by an unidentified man while performing onstage at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night during Netflix’s maiden live comedy fest.

The unknown man who was reportedly armed with a gun and a knife ran behind the stage but was surrounded by security.

Comedian Dave Chappelle has been criticized for his perpetual remarks about the transgender community last year. He joked that his attacker was “a trans man” while the latter was being brought under control by security.

Comedian Chris Rocks who also performed at the Fest came on stage after and joked “Was that Will Smith?”

Recall that Rock had the same encounter with actor Will Smith during his presentation at the 94th Academy Awards.

Smith had hit Rock across the face for making an unwelcomed joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

He apologized to the Academy for his action but not to his colleague, Chris Rock. Will Smith has then been banned from all Oscars events for 10 years as a result of his action.
