Love is indeed a beautiful feeling. More beautiful when it looks beyond convention and alters the norm. We find this exemplary in the union between Jena Banks and DJ (Deji) Oni-Orisan which held in Houston, Texas USA.

The pair who met in high school would kick-start a friendship that would culminate into a love match, and ultimately, a walk down the aisle on the 26th of September, 2021.

Speaking on how they met, the bride said: We met in high school. Me and my friend Leisha were walking down the hallway after school and ran into DJ and our friends Raymond and Arick. I only knew Raymond at the time so I said hey and gave him a hug then Arick and DJ started play fighting to get a hug next and ever since me and DJ hugged we became best friends, then years later boyfriend and girlfriend, now we are engaged and getting married!!!

In a rare display of the rich Yoruba culture of South Eastern Nigeria, the Orisans’ held their traditional marriage ceremony at the Igbo Catholic Community Centre in Houston, Texas on Friday, September 24.

They then exchanged vows on Sunday, September 26 in a glamorous white wedding ceremony at Waters Edge Venue to the joy of their parents; Laitan and Beatrice Orisan & Robert and Gilbert Banks, amongst other guests in attendance.

The bride, Jena was also happily flanked by her some of her close family and friends including: Brandon Banks (Honour attendant), Marcus Banks (Honour attendant), Savannah Banks (Flower Girl), Sidney Banks (Ring bearer), Syer Banks (Ring bearer), Malachi Banks (Ring Bearer), Jenea Emmanuel (Matron of Honour), Jenea Clardy (Maid of Honor), Mashairi Awani (Brides Maid), Jalisa Hurst (Brides Maid), Opal Pierce (Brides Maid), Lori Cade (Brides Maid), Samantha Salinas (Brides Maid), Jennifer Lee (Brides Maid), Ravin Washington (Brides Maid), Jeanette Perez (Brides Maid), Stephanie Cruz (Brides Maid), Natalie Salizar (Brides Maid) and AJ (Brides Maid)
