Kendrick Lamar makes a come back; sets to release a new album after five years
- Rapper Kendrick Lamar has revealed the release date of his 5th album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.”
The announcement came in with a link to his website, oklama.com as a response to a fan who claimed ‘Kendrick Lamar has officially retired’. His label, pgLang disclosed that the album is set to be released on May 13th.
The multiple-Grammy awards winner had earlier announced in August that his soon-to-be-released album would be his last with his record label, Top Dawg Entertainment. According to him, ” As I produce my final TDE album, I feel to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The struggle. The success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling”, he wrote on his website.
Since the release of his album, Damn in 2o17 which won him five awards including his Pulitzer prize, Lamar has kept a low profile. He would appear again, a year after on the soundtrack of Black Panther. That was apparently the last time the world heard of him until recently when he made an appearance at the Super Bowl Half Time Show where he shared the stage with Snoop Dog, 50 Cent, and others.
Meanwhile, announcement of the new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”, sparks a lot of reaction from his excited fans. One of which is from @raptalksk, who claimed his tweet suggesting the rapper has quit music, has brought him out of retirement. In his words, ‘ No way Kendrick Lamar announced his album using my tweet wtffff”
Also, he added, “Drop a follow if u want ur favourite artist out of retirement”
