Reactions as Lil Nas X ‘births’ debut album “Montero” in controversial labour video
Lil Nas X has successfully birthed his debut album, Montero, today, 17th September, 2021, after a week-long pregnancy and several hours in labour.
Announcing the release of his album on his Instagram page, the rapper posted a video of himself being rushed into the delivery room by two midwives and being told to ‘push’ before successfully delivering his new album, Montero and lovingly cradling it in his arms.
Before then, Lil Nas X had posted a video of himself on social media, telling his followers that he was “having contractions” and he thinks the baby is about to come.
The album, Montero features singles like, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, “Sun Goes Down” and “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow. There were also collaborations with artists like Doja Cat (“Scoop”), Elton John (“One of Me”), Mega Thee Stallion (“Dolla Sign Slime”) and Miley Cyrus (“Am I Dreaming”).
The rapper’s ‘over-the-top’ publicity stunt has made the album highly anticipated as well as provoked reactions from critics who found the metaphor anything but funny.
