Six ‘Shine Ya Eye’ housemates and their catchphrases
As the ‘Shine Ya Eye Edition’ of Africa’s biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Naija season approaches its finalé, we reminisce on the 71 days of entertainment these housemates have brought to our screens, as well as some catchphrases we won’t be forgetting in a hurry.
1. Jackie B: “It’s not that deep”
Jackie Bent (a.k.a Jackie B) is a sucker for the phrase, “It’s not that deep”, characterising her persona as a simple, peace-loving and easy going housemate who dislikes controversies and complicated situations.
The now evicted housemate and single mother of one, gave viewers a dose of entertainment with her ‘situationship’ with Micheal, whom she constantly accused of flirting with other females in the house.
While fans are anticipating a real ship between the two outside the house, we still keep our fingers crossed, as to Jackie B, it just might not be that deep after all.
2. Angel: “Real hot girl sh*t, Period!”
Arguably the most talked about and most controversial female housemate this season, Angel Agnes Smith is known for her catchphrase, “Real hot girl sh*t period!”; probably a way of telling off critics and ‘haters’ who won’t ‘mind their businesses’.
The 21-year-old since walking through the doors of the reality TV show has managed to put her name on the lips of both viewers and fellow housemates many of whom find her personality a hard-nut-to-crack.
The reality TV star had once told fellow housemates of her struggle with depression and how she began harming herself as a teenager. This, she said, was as a result of undue pressure and unusually high standards from her parents and school while growing up.
On one occasion in the house, Angel set the internet on fire after exposing her privates on camera. Had to be some real hot girl sh*t!
3. Whitemoney: “Who dey breathe”
Hazel Oyeye Onou (a.k.a Whitemoney) who won hearts the moment he stepped into Biggie’s house is known for this popular catchphrase, “who dey breathe”, implying that he might just be incontestible.
The Enugu-born housemate had during his stay in the house, managed to amass for himself, one of the largest fanbases, many of whom are particularly thrilled by his humility and show of “wisdom”.
Whitemoney upon getting into the house, assumed the position of the house cook; an act that earned him both friends and enemies, especially as many considered the gesture a game strategy.
Although things went awry between him and some housemates once in a while, Whitemoney never failed to let out his catchphrase “Who deeeey” when he could.
4. Micheal: “Stop playing with me”
Micheal Chukwuebuka Ngene (a.k.a Micheal) sure knows how to draw the line when relationships with female housemates begin to seem complicated with his catchphrase, “Stop playing with me”.
The 28-year-old musician and rapper joined fellow housemates three weeks into the game, to kick off his situationship with his love interest, Jackie B almost immediately.
5. Sammie: “From Something to Something”
Zaria born ex-housemate, Samuel Jacob Alifa (a.k.a Sammie) has shown us he is no doubt a fan of enjoyment and the good life.
The tall, dark, handsome and fun-loving ex-housemate believes in progress; yet chooses to acknowledge years of little beginnings, hence “from something to something”.
His story tells it all; from final year student in the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and amateur filmmaker, to making history as a Big Brother Naija season 6 housemate, it’s clear the future hold more for Sammie. Definitely from something to something.
6. Cross da Boss: “Everywhere choke”
Bubbly, funny and the actual life of the party, Cross’ catchphrase, “Everywhere choke”, tells us the young man is just too hot to handle.
Ikechukwu Sunday Cross Okonkwo, upon arrival into the big brother house promised the viewers fun and he did deliver.
He definitely is one housemate we will not be forgetting in a hurry!
