Two Families become one as Mary and Rodney Traditionally Tied the Knot in Maryland, USA
By Ihiasota Boniface
As much as most love stories start with love at first sight some unique ones require time to build and grow with a deep root. This is the love story of Mary and Rodney, our couple who said ‘I do’ to happily ever traditionally on Saturday, 2nd July 2022 at the Banquet Hall Mitchelville in Maryland, USA.
The event hall was filled with friends and loved ones who had come to celebrate with the newlywed, honoring the invitation of the couple’s parents, Mr & Mrs. E. Amaechi (Bride’s parents), and Mr. & Mrs. Rodney Evans Sr. (Groom’s parents).
It was a colorful event as all the guests understood the assignment and delivered. They were all dressed in beautiful traditional attire of different styles, colors, and textures. Among the guests in attendance were the Imo State Women Association(ISWA) led to the event by its National President Chief Mrs. Genevieve Ibe.
Curated for a typical traditional wedding ambiance, the event Hall was adorned with green leaf-like walls and roof decorations. The props were also a visual representation of the Igbo tradition. The white and gold wedding cake, adorned with coral icing, gave the feel of royalty.
The bride, Mary Amaechi donned a flowing yellow sequence dress and accessorized in a gold neckpiece, all worthy of a princess. The Groom, Rodney on the other hand, rocked a similarly yellow bespoke native piece and a crown-like ornament on his head, giving Igbo prince.
Speaking about their love story, Mary and Rodney were long-time secret admirers and friends before they became lovers. Their friendship found its root in the body of Christ and a lot can be said about their journey to together forever.
The beautiful couple were church members whose communication did not go beyond casual greetings. They both attended the same church, Capitol Hill Baptist Church, and were committed to the work of God, even while studying the Word together. Not until 2021 when Rodney was convinced it was Mary he wants to do life with and vice versa.
The two opened up about their attractions and happy place to their close friends. As with every beautiful relationship that experiences the test of time, there was a need for Rodney to relocate to Pennsylvania to pursue his career as a full-time clergyman.
Fortunately, this has got nothing on the love Mary and Rodney share as they continued to wax stronger in love. According to the couple, “In God’s kindness, a strong friendship was built during this time and our relationship continue to grow even as Rodney moved to Pennsylvania in the fall”
After a series of dates and quality time together, Rodney asked Mary to be his wife on February 12, 2022, while on a date in Mount Vernon, VA at George Washington’s Estates. What would later follow is a final step to together forever.
All of us at Excel Magazine International are happy to share in the couple’s joy and we wish them a very happy marriage.
