…Appreciates Members’ Commitment With Boat Cruise Lunch
The Imo State Women Association, ISWA, Washington DC, an organisation of women from Imo State, Nigeria, in Washington DC in the United States of America, on Sunday, July 18, embarked on a boat cruise lunch for its members in Washington DC, in celebration of their commitment to the cause of the organisation.
ISWA is an association of women born in or married into Imo State, who are from a spectrum of professionals like nurses, medical doctors, academic doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, CEOs, directors, pharmacists, pulmonary therapists, computer engineers, to mention a few. They are most importantly, mother’s and wives, who understand the challenges confronting the indigenous communities back home and trying their best to ameliorate these challenges. The organisation has been in existence for over 10 years, with its motto as ‘Peace and Love.’
ISWA’s pioneer President was Dr. Iyom Sussie Okoro , Igolo who was the brain behind the founding of the association. She was succeeded by Chief Ndidi Nwaogu Mkpurumma, Ada Olaedo, a financial guru and accountant. The incumbent and third President of ISWA is Chief Mrs. Genevieve N Ibe, Ugogbuzuo Ochakee.
Paying tribute to the founders of the association for their exemplary leadership in paving the way for ISWA, Mrs. Ibe pledged that members will continue to do everything to grow the association and maintain it’s relevance.
Mrs. Ibe told ISWA members, “This association is one of a kind and I’m privileged to be your leader. As we continue on our journey, we will continue to live by our motto and ardently work hard to foster the vision of our philanthropic efforts with the aide of friends and well wishers to accomplish the tasks at hand.”
Since it’s inception, ISWA has embarked on various mission projects in health and education, including refurbishing of health centres and schools back home in Imo State, Nigeria, providing school supplies and medical equipment; providing clean water by digging boreholes in various communities and provision of palliatives to many communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, feats ISWA was able to achieve through the support of members, their husbands, friends, stakeholders and well wishers.
The President at the boat cruise expressed the organisation’s appreciation to everyone who has one way or the other supported ISWA overwhelmingly to succeed. She particularly singled out Emeka J. Ibe, who volunteered to serve as the officer in charge of ISWA’s fund raising for its projects and ensured successful turn out. The President also announced the adoption of the CEO of Excel Global Media Group Inc. and Publisher of Excel Magazine International, Boniface Ihiasota and Excel Magazine International as strategic partners to ISWA.
Speaking on the partnership between ISWA and Excel Magazine International and the reason behind the adoption of Excel Magazine , it’s Publisher and CEO of Excel Global Media Group Inc, Mr. Ihiasota as partners in progress, the President of ISWA, Chief Mrs. Ibe appreciated the commitment of Excel to ISWA, adding, “There are other associations, but Excel Magazine and it’s Publisher chose us. I want you to know and appreciate the magnitude of the love he has for us, I want us to appreciate him, because to move with us, it is not by our power or might, it’s just pure love from his heart and love for the association.
“He has always admired our association from afar and now, you see why we do have honourary members? So we are going to incorporate him as one of our own. He is now officially our ISWA man; and he would continue to excel in all his endeavours.
“So, women of timber and caliber, women who move mountains, women who shake Washington DC, once we are behind him, he knows the sky is his starting point, so we have to sponsor him in everything he is doing. So, ISWA members, we have our own Excel in the house. This is our own Excel Magazine – we have adopted him and he has adopted us.” said the President of ISWA, Chief Mrs. Ibe.
Responding to his adoption and that of Excel Magazine International, the Publisher and CEO appreciated ISWA for the adoption, saying that one of his flagship was projecting excellence among Africans globally. He said, “I was optimistic in building synergy with organisations of meaningful purpose and giving back to our homeland and ISWA is one of the organisations I have considered very viable to the development of Imo State, Nigeria, where they come from.”
Ihiasota further stated that “They have a whole lot of projects every year – the women contribute their money and send to their various communities of origin to embark on one project or the other and I feel that this is a good feat for Excel Magazine and I love the hard work and the consistency and leadership role of the President of ISWA, who has been playing very vital roles since her adoption and honour in good faith.”
“As a company, we promise that we would, just like she said that we would, excel to greater heights together, and we would do our best to project ISWA to the highest height by the grace of God.”
