“You don’t deserve her”- Online in-laws Criticize Solomon Buchi over a Post Addressed to his Fiancée
It’s no longer news that a lot of relationships on social media are not excluded from the probing eyes of online in-laws. In case you may be wondering who these online in-laws are, the answer is not far from reach.
Online in-laws refer to a group of social media users who have conflicting views and perspectives on other people’s relationships/marriages. They validate a relationship or marriage that is working or cannot work, hence the name ” online in law”.
The amazing thing about this set of people is that they mostly target influential people or celebrities who share a post on social media about their relationship/ marriage or another. As a matter of fact, nobody is left out in these shenanigans.
Known on social media for his controversial stance on relationships, Solomon Buchi finally received his dose of backlashes from the so-called online in-laws after sharing pictures of his fiancee, Arike and him together with a caption that was not well received and interpreted differently by social media users.
It is to be recalled that Solomon Buchi got engaged to Arike in the early weeks of July. Prior to this, he has kept his relationship secret for a while but not too secret to conceal the name of his partner. As he was always citing his partner’s name, Arike in most of his posts before eventually revealing her face on their engagement.
Buchi and his partner are in a long-distance relationship and he has used his relationship as a source of motivation for other people on social media. One of such was the one he shared that got him backlashed differently by social media users on the two big metaverse platforms, Facebook and Instagram.
Filtering and leaving out the important message being passed across, Solomon Buchi was greatly criticized by Facebook users and his message to his lover was interpreted negatively. On the other hand, he got praises and a lot of “God when” on Instagram. Most of the reactions were from female users on the two social media platforms.
The post reads” You’re not the most beautiful woman; neither are you the most intelligent woman, but like I’ve chosen to never find perfection in anyone else. I put my gaze on you, and with that commitment, we would mold ourselves for ourselves. Our perfection is in our commitment.
Stating that you’re not the most beautiful/intelligent might sound like it’s not a compliment, yeah? But it’s a realistic base for real love. Acknowledging that my woman isn’t the best, but I’m not looking for the best. I was looking for you and found you. There’s no best, there is just someone you choose and see the best in them.
This to me is the real love. Not the one that consoles itself in the faux reality that their partner is the most good looking, most intelligent, most successful person in the world. That’s disingenuous and doesn’t give room for love to thrive.
I love you, ayanfe. I’m committed to you. miss you so much!!! But my love for you is stronger than distance. @arikeadeola.o”
